Graphics Card Ranking List

Questions on processor and graphics card specs?
I am planning to upgrade my pc especially the motherboard, processor, ram and graphics card.
I took some price lists from sls and there are some questions about the hardware specs.
For processors,
I noticed 2 intel cpu descriptions. One is Intel PD 945 Dual Core 3.2GHZ 800Mhz/4mb ($278) and Intel Core 2 E6320 1.86 GHZ 1066MHz/4mb ($285).
Is there a difference between Core 2 and dual core?
And what is the difference between the GHZ and MHz frequencies?
For graphics card,
I am aiming for Leadtek nvidea cards. There are Leadtek PX7600GS 256mb ($178), Leadtek PX8500GT 256mb ($155), Leadtek 7300GT Extreme 3 256mb ($168), Leadtek 7600GT 256Mb ($195). All these cards are DDR2.
What is the difference between GS and GT and those with PX and no PX in front?
And what are the ranking of specs in terms of importance for graphics cards…….is it the number, GT/GS, PX or the ram?
The Intel CPU’s are from a different generation, still the both use the wide-spread LGA775 socket.
800 and 1066 represent Front Side Bus,the older ones had even 533Mhz FSB. Keep in mind when you buy the RAM,it has to be at least equal with the FSB of the CPU .
The Leadtek cards are a very good choice,I recomend the GT Extreme ,mainly the difference is the CORE clock and Memory Clock. The GT Extreme is factory overclocked (both core and memory and is faster) . From what I remember ,the GT Extreme has DDR3 and not DDR2 as you said.
Mainly, the difference between the card you specified is the CORE and MEMORY clock and in some case scenario the TV out/TV in connector and/or DVI output.
PS If you want to keep the old HDD,think twice unless you have already a SATA HDD…if your old HDD is still PATA (IDE connector),most of the newer motherboard have one IDE connector only and this will cause you problems.
